Lapco recently partnered with the Medtronic Central, Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMA) team to deliver a pioneering course for robotic surgeons at IRCAD Strasbourg. This two-day workshop, held this month, brought together surgical teams from across the region to focus on bedside stapling in robotic-assisted surgery.
The course featured a comprehensive mix of didactic discussions, live demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and presentations, all centred on enhancing the surgical and first-assist teams’ knowledge and technical proficiency. The curriculum was carefully designed to support the safe and effective use of Medtronic’s Tri-Staple™ Technology and Signia™ Stapling Systems.
Lapco’s evidence-based training methods were integrated throughout, with a strong focus on communication, teamwork, and patient safety in the surgical environment.
“We’re delighted to have had the opportunity to collaborate with the Medtronic CEMA team on this innovative training programme,” said Lapco CEO Ed Sinclair. “We are grateful to the participants and our superb Lapco faculty – Mark Coleman, Joel Dunning, Ken Campbell, Dr. Bogdan Smeu, and Ole Helmer Sjo – for their expertise and enthusiasm in making this inaugural workshop a success.”
Looking ahead, Lapco and Medtronic plan to further develop the course and expand its global reach, bringing this vital training to more surgical teams around the world.
