Mark was a Consultant General Surgeon with a special interest in colorectal surgery and Colorectal Cancer Lead at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust from 1998 to 2018. Prior to that he had three years as a consultant at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. Training colleagues and the future generations has always been a priority for Mark.
He was an early adaptor of laparoscopic colorectal surgery and together with Tom Cecil ran the successful Periferique laparoscopic training programme. Frimley Park Hospital was one of the first hospitals in the UK to establish Robotic Rectal Cancer Surgery. Mark has been involved in the development the CMR Versius Surgical Robot and training surgeons in its use.
Mark is now semi-retired in independent practice and continues to teach and train surgeons. He has more time to pursue other pastimes including wildlife photography, fly-fishing, golf and travel.
